Ain’t No Mountain

Ain’t No Mountain

The Guardians of the Galaxy movies revived some inspiring music from the ’60s. What you may not know is exactly how inspiring one song actually is. I’m referring to the hit written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson – “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

When Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell recorded the song, it came across as an ode of dedication to one’s beloved. In truth, its lyrics were written as an anthem for the achievement of a focused purpose.

Let me explain. Nickolas Ashford had set in his mind that one day he and Valerie Simpson would write songs that would be chart-topping hits. He sat down and penned “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” with core lyrics that outlined how firm his commitment was to achieving his goal. “Ain’t no mountain high enough. Ain’t no valley low enough. Ain’t no river wide enough. to keep me from getting to you.”

The song became their first big hit. And many more followed. Just as he had intended.
